It is my pleasure to introduce you to AHCLA.

Its formation is one of the most important milestones in my career, because AHCLA demonstrates
very tangibly that Asian-Americans have made it in healthcare. You can’t be what you can’t see -
and to me the major goal of AHCLA is to provide all of us with exposure to personal mentoring,
networking, and lifelong learning. We all need to grow and to be great leaders, no matter where we
are in our careers. Leadership changes cultures and communities, and I hope that will be AHCLA’s legacy.

AHCLA Core Values

Leadership and Professional Development

AHCLA will link senior Asian-American healthcare leaders with those new to the field, moving up the ladder,
or considering the field to provide value to members.

AHCLA and its members can be vehicles for spurring identity and pride among Asian-Americans, particularly
those in the healthcare field.

Improving Health Care Delivery

AHCLA’s priorities align well with an era of healthcare reform, and will contribute to ongoing efforts to
improve quality, transparency, and consumer-driven care.

Creating Unique Value

Participation in AHCLA involves members, funders, and other stakeholders in important healthcare issues,
such as leadership development, improving healthcare delivery, and enhancing provider accountability
to their communities.
