
David Elgarico
Chief Operating Officer, Rio Grande Regional Hospital
A founding board member and the current Treasurer/Secretary of AHCLA, David Elgarico is the Chief Operating Officer at Rio Grande Regional Hospital, an HCA hospital located in McAllen, Texas. Before joining Rio Grande Regional Hospital, Mr. Elgarico began his career with HCA as the Administrative Resident at Trident Health System in Charleston, South Carolina. Following his administrative residency, David moved to Riverside, California to participate in HCA’s Chief Operating Officer Development Program as an Associate Administrator at Riverside Community Hospital. In August 2009, he relocated to south Texas to pursue his current role.
Mr. Elgarico held various leadership and board level positions. He has been a board member for the Health Care Executives of Southern California, the Hospital Association of Southern California, Riverside Downtown Partnership, The Unforgettables Foundation, and the MUSC Department of Health Administration and Policy Alumni Board. Additionally, he was a member of the ACHE Regent’s Advisory Councils in South Carolina and southern California. In his free time, Mr. Elgarico studies asian martial arts and has coached volleyball for various university, Junior Olympic, and high school volleyball programs.
A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Mr. Elgarico earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston in Physical Education and Exercise Science and a master’s degree in hospital administration from the Medical University of South Carolina. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
