Alan Ying, MD, MBA

Alan was a surgury resident at Duke University when he started MercuryMD, a mobile information systems provider for hospitals. As CEO, he grew MercuryMD into the market leader before selling the business to the Thomson Corp (NYSE:TRI), where he subsequently served as Chief Medical Officer before leaving to manage private investments.  Currently, Alan is a Venture Partner at Chrysalis Ventures, a healthcare technology-focused venture firm, and the Managing Member of Asterism Capital Partners, a value-oriented investment firm focusing on public securities.

Alan earned a BA from Rice University, an MD from The Ohio State University, and trained in general surgery at Duke University.  Alan has received several patents for medical technology and communication tools.  He currently serves as a Board Advisor or Director for several private, public, and non-profit organizations.  Alan is based in Houston, Texas.
